What You'll do:

Fiber Education: Explore the differences between natural and synthetic fibres, considering their effects on the environment and their various applications in the textile industry.

If you participated in our prior sheep shearing activity on the farm, you will have a greater understanding of the wool growth process and how to make more sustainable decisions in your daily life.

Hands-On Carding and Spinning: Firstly, you will begin by learning the process of washing a fleece. After that, you can progress to carding the fleece using hand carders or a drum carder, with the guidance of an expert. Finally, learn various spinning techniques, including the mastery of handling various types of wool.

Spinning Your Own Yarns: During this class, you will learn the skills of spinning and plying yarn. You can use the fleece provided by our workshop. If you have previously participated in our sheep shearing activity on the farm, you may bring the fleece that you sheared yourself. By the end of the programme, you shall have created your own skein of yarn to take home.
